Sid Ganis Regarding Resolution of the WGA Strike
I am relieved that the men and women of the entertainment industry are going back to work and I am ecstatic that the 80th Academy Awards presentation can now proceed full steam ahead with talented writers working on the show, a fantastic array of presenters and performers and, most importantly, the ability for all of our honored nominees to attend without hesitation or discomfort.
Officially sanctioned by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Oscar Night® America – Tampa Bay is Tampa’s only benefit supported by the Academy and one of 52 such events nationwide.
Now in its ninth year at Tampa Theatre, Oscar Night® has become a tradition that film fans in the area look forward to as an evening with an elegant Oscar-worthy reception and red carpet festivities including limo rides around the block, screaming fans and paparazzi. This year the star of the evening is Oscar himself: celebrating the movies has never been better than watching the ceremony telecast live on Tampa Theatre’s big screen. All proceeds benefit Tampa Theatre’s film and educational programs.

6 - 7:30 pm................................. VIP Red Carpet Arrival & Reception
7:15 pm.................. General Admission Red Carpet Arrival & Check-In
8:00 pm.................................. Oscar Night Pre-Show followed by the
Live Telecast of the 80th Annual Academy Awards® Ceremony
VIP Reception. - Oscar Night® America – Tampa Bay begins with the Oscar Night® VIP reception. Guests enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres, Champagne, wine and beer during the reception. VIP guests are also welcome to sit in a section of the orchestra reserved for reception guests.
Red Carpet Arrival – Enjoy an authentic red carpet experience and white glove treatment. Limousine rides around the block let you out on the red carpet where throngs of autograph seekers and paparazzi compete for your attention. Meet Tampa’s own Roan Jivers and enjoy a special appearance by tuxedoed black-footed penguins from the Florida Aquarium.
Live Telecast - The Academy Awards program pre-broadcast will begin at 8:00 p.m., followed by ABC’s live telecast of the 80th Annual Academy Awards on the big screen. Doughnuts and coffee are served to guests who remain until the end of the telecast!
